COWES INSHORE LIFEBOAT SLIPWAY CONSTRUCTION
PROJECT BRIEF |
Principle diving contractor to undertake all subsea operations in the construction and installation of Cowes Inshore Lifeboat Station. This project ran over a series of weeks in conjunction with the topside contractor Raymond Brown Construction Ltd with our involvement from inception to completion. Operations included numerous aspects of subsea civil engineering including but not restricted to, dredging, drilling, welding, cutting, grinding, painting/coating, cementing and final fixings. |
RESPONSIBILITIES |
Project Manager responsible for all subsurface operations including the compilation of the dive management system. I was responsible for compiling the sequence of works and safety procedures for all subsea and hot works operations. All paperwork was completed daily and forwarded directly to the site manager prior to diving works being undertaken. |

CHALLENGES |
This project was conducted during winter months and therefore meteorological conditions proved to be a daily challenge from extreme tides, to extreme temperatures. With location being at the entrance to Cowes Harbour the working zone was open to the elements and prevailing conditions not to forget the consistent movement of local shipping and ferrys all of which had an impact on the working zone. |
