UNDERWATER ANTI CORROSIVE COATING SYSTEMS

PROJECT BRIEF	To source and project manage the application of an underwater coating system to protect the main supporting steel structure of the lifeboat slipway. My company was tasked to complete all underwater works assigned to this project.
RESPONSIBILITIES	Project Manager for all subsea works. Responsible for sourcing a corrosion coating system that was environmentally friendly which had good adhesion and corrosive protection properties for this harsh and unforgiving environment. I was also responsible for ensuring safe application of this hazardous product which included method statements, risk assessments, quality control and waste management systems.
CLIENT	MMC Diving Services \| Raymond Brown Construction Limited
CHALLENGES	High volume traffic due to its positioning at the entrance to Cowes Harbour. Tidal waters with strong currents made the application of this product challenging. The consistency of the underwater coating required both equipment and personnel to be suitably protected at all times with strict waste management systems implemented. This project was completed in the depths of winter with temperatures below freezing making the general application and curing times a challenging process.
