PROJECT BRIEF	Overseeing new build of Oyster 66, commissioning period sailing around the Baltic and Swedish Archipelago and completion of maintenance programs for all electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems prior to the owner engaging on a circumnavigation program.
RESPONSIBILITIES	As first mate and engineer I was responsible for all onboard systems and their continual functionality. With a pre-planned circumnavigation program I wrote up all maintenance schedules for the vessel and was responsible for ensuring that adequate spares were carried onboard. I also carried out logistical planning ahead of schedule to ensure that adequate spares were onboard to cover all foreseeable malfunctions regardless of the yachts positioning around the world.

CHALLENGES	Newbuilds often present challenging situations especially towards the final phase of the build where timelines are usually pressed and budgets usually squeezed. With a circumnavigation program already planned, a commissioning phase was introduced with sea trials conducted around the Baltic and Swedish Archipelago that would provide a suitable means to test and run all onboard systems, highlight discrepancies and rectify all such issues prior to her global expedition.
