SY ALCIBIADES II YACHT MANAGEMENT

PROJECT BRIEF	To take delivery of the yacht from the Isle of Wight and project manage the entire winter works program.
RESPONSIBILITIES	I was responsible for compiling and executing the winter maintenance programs for Alcibiades II which included works in the following areas:- mechanical, electrical, rigging, safety, paintwork and gel repairs, polishing and sealing, antifouling, teak cleaning, detailing and general maintenance.  I carried out the majority of works myself over a 3 week period with the appointment of sub-contractors where necessary.  In previous years I have overseen the management of structural repairs and a complete hull re-spray as well as the management of other yachts under my clients ownership.

CHALLENGES	Due to the scale of works necessary including the installation of a new furling unit I decided to use a yard based in Lymington which were able to accommodate my needs.  Yard policy due to the size of the vessel required her to sit in a cradle but the only availability gave me a restricted window of 3 weeks ashore.  In addition the owner needed works to be completed by a specific date which required all works to be stringently project managed to ensure completion by launch day so that she could be delivered back to the Isle of Wight immediately.  The time frame allocated for this project was 4 weeks with the majority of works being carried out in the 3 weeks in which the vessel was ashore.  Poor weather including snow, rain and sub zero temperatures required strategic and meticulous planning of all operations to ensure that attention to detail and quality was never compromised.
REPORTING	I compiled a comprehensive report covering all works undertaken including a gallery of images before and after which was forwarded to the owner on completion.  The report also detailed information concerning future additional works for consideration so that the owner could allocate a suitable budget in advance of the next annual maintenance program.
OUTCOME	Project completed – The vessel looked brand new!
