SUPER YACHT MV SENSES DRAFT REDUCTION

SUPER YACHT MV SENSES DRAFT REDUCTION

PROJECT BRIEF Assigned for the installation of x12 enclosed buoyancy units each with a capacity of providing 5 tonne of lift to MV Senses , a 60m super yacht within the confines of Trafalgar Wharf.  It was calculated that the correct positioning of each lift bag would provide a total lifting capacity of 60 tonne providing 6″ of uplift without compromising the A.V.S of the vessel.  Each bag was coupled to a compressor via a matrix of hoses and purpose built manifold system that we designed so that we could independently fill each bag for a controlled ascent.
RESPONSIBILITIES Director of Operations | Project Manager responsible for all subsea operations.
CLIENT MMC Diving Services | Seaflex Ltd
CHALLENGES The biggest challenge of this operation was the positioning and securement of the bags as the vessel was mid way through an extensive refit program.  Additional challenges included poor visibility and confined space works as the vessel was effectively aground requiring air lift pumps to be used to create channels under the vessel for the strop alignment to ensure that each bag was in equal proportion on each side of the vessel.  Each of the 12 lift bags were 3.5m x 2.0m x 1.5m and each had to be positioned by the diver making this both a mentally and physically challenging operation.
